Hello... just a little update on what's going on with me. I've just started working in a full-time job, hours are extremely irregular cos i work in shifts, which can end up to er, 2am... i'm hoping i'd still have the time (and energy) to keep updating this blog, but do pardon me if i take a little more time for remakes as i try to adjust from being a carefree and irresponsible student to a grown-up who actually works full-time haha...

Whee my first venture into sewing! The first attempt is embarrasingly amatuer and imperfect so i'm going to keep it for myself =P But i can remake up to 2 of this adorable little pouch :)

A friend actually mentioned it's the perfect size for santitary pads haha... Good size to bring out basic make up for touch up as well :)

A little something to share

I post most of my creations in this craft community site called craftgrrl, solely just to gather feedback and opinions, cos they don't allow sales posts anyway. Most people there were very polite and they gave mostly very favourable feedbacks. I did receive some friendly critiques too, just to share a few which are worth pondering...

"Personally I think they look a bit busy, and really long. I think all in all, your charms really dont have any relation to each other, and without that whole "charm bracelet motif" they just look random and out of place..." "...They wouldn't really go with much...Not a lot of people wear gold anymore either. At least not in that style.

Sorry if that came out as a laundry list of negative things. That wasnt my intention. I love the little rose ball bead thingies, and the way you strung them. Thats a sort of idea I havent seen much of."

Someone replied:

"I think they're lovely. I, personally, wouldn't wear either of these pair, but I remember that I've liked a fair few of the other pieces you've posted here. I know there are definitely "in" styles for jewelry, but not everyone wants to fit in and wear what jewelry stores or magazines tell us is in fashion. I personally would rather find my own style; if gold isn't "in" anymore, but I like it, I'll wear it anyway.

Some of your jewelry does seem odd in some way. You put things together that I don't think actually go together, but somehow (most of the time) it works, and I like that you're not afraid to try different things. And I like the little stories you tell about them too. :) My two cents."

Got this recently at a shop in Cine called MaaMaeMoo i think.

Thought the prints looked reeeeally familiar to me, later realised i saw it on an online japanese fabric shop! My fabric looks a bit different though, being cream in colour, while hers looks white to me.

It's a fantastic makeup pouch as there is a waterproof lining plus a few compartments. The only concern i have is that it's made of light-coloured cloth which may be easily stained :(

And my first Guess bag! No, jewelry making hasn't made me rich. I managed to grab this at a 50% discount woohoo!!! It's really tiny though, only big enough for your wallet and handphone but i'm happy enough cos it's only $39.90. Go to Guess at Takashimaya, they're having a sale where tops go at 70% off, and bags and wallets are thrown around in a frenzy. But the greatest thing is they do have new pieces they hide in the storeroom among those being thrown around on the racks :)

The Fairytale Collection: Cinderella

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young girl of unparalleled goodness and sweet temper. She had a wicked stepmother and two stepsisters who made her do all the work in the house. Sleeping by the cinders, she was called "Cinderella".

One day the Prince invited all the maidens in the land to a ball for him to choose a bride. As the two Stepsisters gleefully planned their wardrobes, Cinderella was forbidden by her stepmother to go to the ball.

As the sisters swept away to the ball, Cinderella cried in despair. Suddenly, her Fairy Godmother appeared. She turned a pumpkin into a coach, mice into horses, a rat in to a coachman, and lizards into footmen. She then turned Cinderella's rags into a beautiful gown, complete with a delicate pair of glass slippers. The Godmother then bade her enjoy the ball, but return before midnight for the spells would be broken.

Trinket care

I have to say that all metals tarnish overtime, but there is a great deal you could do to slow down this process!

Firstly avoid contact with liquid such as water or perfume. I would tell you to avoid sweating too but that's obviously impossible =P However if you're meticulous enough you could wipe your trinkets with a dry cloth after every wear to prevent them from being tarnished by sweat.

What happens if your trinkets are already tarnished and appear dull? Wiping them with a damp cloth helps :)

Most importantly when you're not wearing them, keep them in an air tight container to minimize oxidation. For example i keep mine in metal boxes :) One of them was a Christmas cookie tin which has cute teddies on it haha so you don't really have to source for high-quality containers. Alternatively, because my trinkets come in zip lock bags, so you could keep them in these bags, sealed.

I know how we like to hang out our accessories to look nice and prevent them from getting tangled, but this is not advisable if you want your trinkets to remain nice and shiny for a long time! :):):)

What i do on my part to help you maintain your trinkets: Besides providing you with a zip lock bag, Gold coloured chains are gold-plated while Silver coloured chains are rhodium/silver plated, so are most ear hooks and other parts of a trinket. Wires used are tarnish-resistant. These materials are of higher quality than normal ones, which are able to deter oxidation to a greater extent.

Step 2: Wait for my confirmation reply! Usually within 24hours unless if i'm away.

Step 3: Make payment after receiving confirmation of purchase.
            Mode of payment: Bank transfers for local buyers or Paypal for international buyers. Concealed cash at buyer's own risk!
            Please kindly make payment within 3 days of purchase confirmation, or else item will be released to next interested buyer.

Step 4: Wait patiently for your trinket's grand arrival :) I'm always counting down to the days to receiving an anticipated mail so i fully understand how agonizing this wait can be =p So most of the time, when i'm not busy, be assured that i try to send out the items as soon as i've received payment!

Step 5: A feedback is deeply appreciated after your handmade baby has reached you! :) I'll be even happier to feature a picture of you wearing your trinket! :)
